Is Michigan football icon Bo Schembechler overrated?


Before people cry “Foul!” in the comment section of this story and on social media, let’s state for the record: Not only was Bo Schembechler a very good coach, he was a University of Michigan football icon.

You’d have a hard time convincing me otherwise. How can you discuss Wolverine legends without Bo’s name popping up?

Bo has more than his share of supporters and always will, but our U-M Mount Rushmore project, which was revealed Monday, prompted some interesting responses about the former coach.

Clearly, Michigan fans have a high level of respect for Fielding Yost, and for good reason. It’s also apparent that many people believe that Bo was not all he’s cracked up to be.

With reader responses in mind, we pose the question: Is Bo Schembechler overrated?
