Hollywood star said yes to Dublin's very own zombie horror


A director has told how he thought it was a prank when Ellen Page, the Hollywood actress, agreed to star in his zombie film set in post-apocalyptic Dublin.

In David Freyne’s debut feature film The Cured, which also stars Sam Keeley and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, survivors of the “Maze” virus try to reintegrate into a highly suspicious and fearful society.

Page, who starred in Juno and Inception, plays a widowed sister-in-law attempting to help Senan (Keeley) restart his life. Perseverance was the key to attracting the Oscar-nominated Canadian actress to the role, said Freyne, who also wrote the film.
