Former local football players hold camp that teaches football, life lessons

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – Some local football fans remember the Tyrance brothers, and chances are if you played against Cardinal Gibbons while they attended, you remember them very well.

Coleman and Chavar Tyrance played their high school ball for the Crusaders before Coleman went to play at Western Carolina and Chavar at North Carolina A&T. Now they’re back in the Triangle and are teaching both football skills and life lessons by hosting their 10th annual Football Food Drive Camp.

What makes this camp different from others is that campers are asked to bring five (or more) cans of food to donate to the hungry. Each year the camp has existed, they have collected more food than the previous session, and the Tyrance brothers expect that trend to continue this summer.

Coleman and Chavar joined CBS 17’s Jeff Jones, in studio, to talk about the upcoming camp.
